While I was at the Power Systems Technical University in London a couple of weeks ago, a conference attendee in my work management presentation asked me this question: “How do I make WRKJOB, option 14 (display open files), display the I/O information rather than the activation group information? I always have to press F11 to see the I/O details.”

The work-management team recently made available some changes with PTFs to help control the behavior of job creation for cases when a program may get in a loop submitting jobs. The change made with the PTF is to slow down the creation of new jobs when the system is approaching the limit for the maximum number of jobs (QMAXJOB system value). This support is in the base operating system in 7.1 and later releases.

A recent enhancement to the 6.1 communications trace support allows the collected communications trace data to be dumped to a file in the packet capture (PCAP) format. The Dump Communications Trace (DMPCMNTRC) command was introduced in V5R3. This command lets you dump a communications trace to a stream file. Prior to the 6.1 enhancement, you could then print the dumped trace data with the Print Communications Trace command.
