This week marks the 5th year of “i Can” – five years already?! When I review the long list of blogs that have been published, only a small number have content that’s dated – most of the blogs are as applicable as when they were first written. I like birthdays, even as the numbers get larger. I’ll admit that I like to get birthday presents; I like to give them too. This week marks the 4th year of the “i Can” blog, so this week’s blog is a gift of reading material.

You know the phrase, “My, how time flies!” And it seems it has! On Aug. 10, 2009, the first i Can blog, “Why i Can,” was published. Since that time, the blog has been updated almost every week and somewhere around 140 blog entries have now been written. My list of topics to write about is as long as ever; there are always new topics as the IBM i development team continues to release new function via Technology Refreshes. IBM i, being an integrated operating environment, has tremendous capabilities. A few of us in the development lab in Rochester have wanted to find a more direct way to share all of the great things done to improve and enhance IBM i. We document the enhancements in the IBM i Information Center, but outside of our marketing information, it’s hard to find a nice summary of “What’s new in IBM i 6.1” (or whatever release you’re interested in.)(more…)
